Andrei Liankevich

Andrei Liankevich (born 1981 in Grodno) – photographer, lecturer, curator, the initiator of the Month of Photography in Minsk. Lives and works in Minsk (Belarus). Since 2004 – teaching a course on Photojournalism at the European Humanities University in Vilnius (Lithuania). .

In 2004-2005 Liankevich took part in World Press Photo seminar (Yerevan, Armenia), in 2007 – in the Focus on Monferrato workshop (Tuscany, Italy) and the French Association Pour llnstant programme, shooting a photo story on “Modern family institutions”. In 2009-2010 he produced portraits of the Belarussians living in Poland as a part of “Gaude Polonia” programme.

Andrei Liankevich has presented his photographic oeuvre in more than 60 exhibitions in Europe, Asia and the USA; among which there are such venues as the Museum of Modern Art (Vienna, Austria), the Zachta Gallery in Warsaw (Poland), the Third Month of European Photography in Uferhallen, Berlin (Germany). His works are published in international media, such as The New York Times, Le Figaro, Newsweek, Die Zeit, Spiegel, GEO, Vanity Fair, Readers Digest and the International Herald Tribune.

2005-2010 Liankevich cooperated with the European Pressphoto Agency (EPA) and in 2007-2012 – worked with the Anzenberger Agency. In 2008 – joined SPUTNIK collective. In 2010 Andrei Liankevich published his first photobook “Pagan” – a year before the images from this series brought him the Humanity Photo Awards and the place of a finalist of “Magnum Expression Award”. Among his other achievements – the 1st Prize at the Polish Photography Contest dedicated to 170 Years of Photography, the victory in the OSCE photo contest, Grand Prix of “Kaunas Photo Star” portfolio review, Grand Prix at “Salon d’Automne”  Grand Prix at “Warsaw Photo Days” festival and numerous awards in Belarus Press Photo contest.

In 2012 Andrei got into the list of 15 most influential artists of Belarus in the period from 2000 to 2010. In 2013, Andrei Liankevich organized the first edition of book on young photography “BY NOW”, which was published in the German publishing house Kehrer, and the eponymous exhibition held in the framework of international photo festivals in Poland and Germany.

In 2012 and 2013, Andrei Liankevich organized the World Press Photo Exhibition in Minsk. In 2015-2016 he took the position of the art director of the Minsk space TCEH.
